Blog 2 of 7: Our Next 7 blog posts are going to diverge a bit. We would like for you to get know our company and our engineering team. We are all very different people and have all had very different journeys to get to where we are now. We would like to honor those differences.

1. Tell me about your career. What did your journey look like before you came to CS Marine?
My journey before coming to work at CS Marine is perhaps not what one might expect. Most of my work experience lies in the Food and Beverage industry, excepting some warehouse work and a short time as a fiberglass fabricator. Deciding to better myself I began studying at Northern Michigan University where I dabbled in several subjects before pursuing a degree in Philosophy.
2. What originally drew you to apply to CS Marine?
Just prior to graduating, the opportunity to apply at CS Marine presented itself. The work was described to me as being, “sometimes hands-on, sometimes critical thinking, and often both”. Though perhaps not directly relating to my primary field of study, I leapt at the chance to do something I never have before.
3. What do you work on?
One of the great things about working at CS Marine is the variety of work that I am involved in. Succinctly put, I work on the alignment of the propulsion system. But underneath that umbrella lies a plethora of tasks that I do and/or oversee; such as measuring and adjusting bearing load and position or working to find ways to improve the alignment process.
4. Why do you look forward to coming to work every day?
I look forward to coming into work everyday is because of all the learning opportunities that I am afforded here. Since I began I have learned everything from setting up a dial indicator properly, welding, and using FARO laser technology. CS Marine has and continues to give me the knowledge and skills I need to be successful both here at Fincantieri Marinette Marine and anywhere else our journey may take us.
