CS Marine (CSM) is looking for a motivated Technician to join our team. Primary tasks will include precision alignment, optical measurement, machinery installation, and other precision measurements. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated mechanical proficiency, understanding of complex mechanical devises, strong communication skills, and be able to use dial indicators, micrometers, etc. In addition, the following skills would be a plus: good math skills, ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics. This job will require carrying equipment up and down ladders and steep stairs, physical stamina, handling precision tools, and ability to work in confined spaces.
About Job:
Benefits start the 1st day of month after 30 days.
Average 40-45 hours per week.
Main hours 9am – 6pm there are some weekends and shift work also.
Up to 25% travel to other shipyards throughout US

Responsibilities:
Work with yard employees
Precision measurements and adjustment of large propulsion components
Set up and record measurements using various techniques and equipment including optical and strain type equipment.
Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards
Ability to lift 50 pounds

Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or GED.
Ability to read and record measurements with dial and vernier measurement devices (micrometer (ID and OD), dial indicators, calipers, etc)
Understanding of general hand tools and uses.
Ability to follow written instructions
Experience in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint, in particular)
Ability to work in confined spaces
Cannot have worked for FMM or any of its affiliated companies before
Firm technical knowledge of diagrams, engineering drawings and schematics
Good math skills
Good communication skills
Ability to work all days and shifts, including overtime
Physically fit enough to go up and down ladders and be able to carry measurement equipment throughout yard
Must pass a background check
Must be US Person
Desired qualifications:
Demonstrated aptitude for mechanical work
Previous experience with FARO or Rotalign optical measurement equipment.
Knowledge of strain gauge installation and measurement
Mechanic or Machinist experience
High level of dexterity with tools and mechanical equipment
Physical demands:
Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head
Lifting and moving totes up to 50 pounds each
Moving about within and around the site with great frequency (up to 10-12 hours per shift)
Ascending or descending ladders, gangways, and stairs safely, and working off platforms and equipment at significant heights
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Significant time spent on handheld devices or computer accessories such as mice and keyboards
Use of manual tools, such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.
Environmental conditions may include small and/or enclosed spaces, dust, poor ventilation, fumes/odors, outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, noisy environments, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces
