“I started at CS Marine the summer after my Sophomore Year at Purdue.  I was the only one of my friends who still had a summer internship to look forward to as Covid was descending upon the US.  That is the beauty of working for an essential company.  I’m not going to glamorize it, they make you work, but it is not the mind-numbing busy work of some summer internships.  They have you in the space on a Naval ship, practicing your precision measurement, doing calculations, and torquing gears.  You will perfect the art of writing up reports and drawing in Solidworks.  Being a small company, everyone is hands on and everyone has a voice.  They are always looking to become more efficient in every process and are willing to hear out any suggestions.  While I was at CS Marine, they started a machine shop, Marinette Machine.  With the combination of the two, you can now learn a process from measurement to machining all the way through.  It is a great way to implement your engineering training and to learn all the many facets that go into manufacturing and production starting with the bare bones of design (which is my personal favorite).   Working at both locations taught me what avenue I wanted to pursue in my field and gave me the experience I needed to obtain a job in exactly that.”

Purdue University Graduate Spring 2022, BS in Mechanical Engineering

starting at General Dynamics Electric Boat Summer 2022: Engineering and Design, Main Propulsion Department, Submarine Division

"Working at CS Marine and Marinette Machine allowed me to put what I learned in school into practice in the real world. The close work environment is perfect for getting involved on the job. Every team I was a part of was excellent, and I gained incredibly valuable work experience. If you're a mechanical engineering student looking for a practical application of what you've learned or an internship to develop new skills, I can't recommend the position at CS Marine and Marinette Machine enough!"

BS Mechanical Engineering

“I first started working with CS Marine at the beginning of my last semester of high school. My prior experiences of how engineers and machinists do their job was limited to only a few classes at the school and research done on the computer. Since then, I have learned so much about engineering and the process of making an idea become a product. Another great thing about CS Marine is the flexibility with school and outside activities. Without that flexibility it would be more difficult to continue the sports I enjoy playing. One thing that I would say stands out about this small business is that they gave me the tools to learn. They gave me Solidworks to learn how to design parts, ability to use complex tools while assisting me with the fabrication, and lastly the tool of great criticism by giving me new ways to look at a problem. This internship has given me great work experience that has shown me what I'll be doing for engineering after going to college. Truly answering many of the hard questions about engineering. I cannot wait to see what my future unfolds thanks to CS Marine!”
